Spring to Action 2018 Full Schedule Announced!

We are excited to announce the full schedule for Saturday’s Spring to Action: Breaking the Silence, Building a Collective. This forum on sexual harassment will feature the keynote speaker Dr. Leena Akhtar, a Title IX/Human resources panel, and focused breakout sessions. Dr. Leena Akhtar is a lecturer in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Harvard University as well as a graduate of the Department of the History of Science at Harvard University. Prior to this, she received an MA in Cultural History from the University of London and an advanced certificate in Trauma and Violence Transdisciplinary Studies from New York University.

3:35-3:50pm- Debrief from session 1 (general policy proposal, voting on what to include in proposal to school)

3:50-4:15pm- Breakout Session 2- “areas of interest”

4:15-4:25pm- Short break, Note-takers summarize

New England GWiSE

NE GWiSE is an alliance between GWISE groups from universities across New England. We are joining together to support and celebrate women and gender minorities in STEM fields, to increase awareness of the issues we face, and create change within our community. We support ideas and actions to increase diverse gender representation in STEM departments, create fair and positive workplace environments, increase the support and mentorship students receive, and enact equitable university and federal policies. Through advocacy, diversity, outreach efforts, and networking opportunities, as well as collective actions and supporting developing GWISE groups, NE GWiSE works to advance policies and programs across New England to promote equality and improve the experience of students. All members of the graduate community are welcome to become NE GWiSE members and attend our events.
