Harshita Shanbog

Event Coordinator

Harshita Shanbog (she/hers) is pursuing her final year of a M.S. in biotechnology at Northeastern University. Having gained experience in the early biopharma discovery field, she aims to fill the gap in the biotech industry by serving as a liaison between the scientific community and corporate organizations while functioning to improve patient accessibility. She is also working at Loring lab and her research entails investigating the incompatibility between specific transmembrane domains to determine neuronal nicotinic receptor assembly and expression. Previously, she has been associated with TEDx and FIFA organizing teams and by bringing these skills to the table, she is prepared to help GWiSE spread growth, togetherness and inclusivity. This is her first year at NE-GWiSE! Fostering strength within the scientific community and rescuing stray animals is what she believes in.

New England GWiSE

NE GWiSE is an alliance between GWISE groups from universities across New England. We are joining together to support and celebrate women and gender minorities in STEM fields, to increase awareness of the issues we face, and create change within our community. We support ideas and actions to increase diverse gender representation in STEM departments, create fair and positive workplace environments, increase the support and mentorship students receive, and enact equitable university and federal policies. Through advocacy, diversity, outreach efforts, and networking opportunities, as well as collective actions and supporting developing GWISE groups, NE GWiSE works to advance policies and programs across New England to promote equality and improve the experience of students. All members of the graduate community are welcome to become NE GWiSE members and attend our events.
